Engineering & Maintenance

Engineering & Maintenance is the technical core of KLM. Thousands of specialists work here on planes for KLM and international customers. Every action contributes to safe and reliable aviation.

Within Engineering & Maintenance, all technical disciplines come together. We maintain a diverse fleet and support more than two hundred airlines worldwide. Our work takes place in hangars, workshops, test facilities, and logistics hubs in and around Schiphol.

Engineering & Maintenance is all about collaboration. Mechanics, planners, engineers, warehouse teams and test specialists work as one chain. From the moment a part arrives to the moment an aircraft is released back into operation, every step is connected. This ensures quality and continuity for our own operation and for our customers.

We work not only on technology, but on the full maintenance process. This includes planning, material flows, documentation, compliance, customer coordination, and a logistics operation that runs day and night.

This is what it looks like

Every day, work moves through our organization. Planes arrive for checks, engines are transferred to test cells, and components are measured, documented, repaired and certified again. At the same time, projects improve how we work, such as digital planning, smarter inventory management, and the preparation of major overhauls.

Each of the four divisions plays a specific role in this chain. Airframe focuses on the complete aircraft in the hangar. Engine Services manages the full cycle of engine maintenance. Component Services ensures that parts and systems remain serviceable. Engineering & Staff safeguards quality, documentation, regulations and technical decision-making.

Room to grow

Within Engineering & Maintenance you can grow in many directions. You can specialize in a technical field, move into coordination or planning, or focus on process improvement, fleet support, or customer management. The KLM Engineering & Maintenance Academy offers training at every level.

Because we work closely with Air France Industries, you are part of an international network. You see how maintenance, documentation, and supply chains connect across the world. This makes Engineering & Maintenance a place where you continue to learn and where new opportunities arise naturally.
