Work Placement Internship - Defense Capability Development Research

What will you do?
We are looking for an enthusiastic HBO or WO intern (preferably in Engineering, Aviation Technology, or a similar field) to strengthen our team with an interesting assignment: investigating the possibilities of carrying out military work in our existing KLM MRO shops. In addition, you will examine which component repairs may require a more specialized military shop.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Main tasks:
- Map out which military maintenance activities (Component Repairs) can be carried out within KLM E&M’s current facilities.
- Analyze the differences between civil and military component repairs (including requirements, procedures, tooling, and certification).
- Identify which modifications or investments are needed to perform military work in the existing shops.
- Determine which component repairs (or types of activities) require a more dedicated military shop, for example due to specific requirements, security, or tooling.
- Prepare an advisory report with recommendations for management.
Where do you land?
At the Industrial Programs staff department of KLM E&M at Schiphol-East (building 404). Together with experienced program and project managers from the team, as well as stakeholders from the business units, you will consult on how to shape your assignment.
Your profile
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner
- Good communication skills (Dutch and English)
- Affinity with aviation and technology
You will do this over a period of six months, during which you will complete your advisory report.
