The world is your oyster as a Team Member Transport ES at KLM. In this role, you make sure aircraft engines and parts are transported, handled and stored safely and on time at Schiphol-East. You work in a practical and dynamic environment where safety, accuracy and teamwork are key.

What will you do?

As a Team Member Transport ES, you are responsible for transporting, loading, unloading and storing aircraft engines, engine modules, stands, tooling and equipment within Engine Services. You work according to the “just in time” principle, so production can continue without delay.

Your work includes physical tasks, careful handling of high-value engines and correct administrative processing. You always work according to safety rules and procedures.

Your main activities are:

  • Transporting aircraft engines, parts and equipment between different locations at Schiphol-East, following fixed routes;
  • Loading and unloading aircraft engines and heavy parts using forklifts (up to 20 tons) and cranes;
  • Preparing engines, stands and equipment for transport or shipment, including checks, documentation and inspections;
  • Storing engines, modules and equipment in the correct locations and keeping workplaces clean and safe;
  • Registering transport movements, storage and shipments in the system and signing transport documents;
  • Reporting damage, irregularities or unsafe situations and supporting audits when needed;
  • Checking and reporting of overdue equipment;
  • Perform humidity checks on engines;
  • Supporting hangars/shop/Schiphol East with a 20-ton forklift (other than engines);
  • Transferring aircraft engines from stands to dollies and vice versa using a 10-ton crane;
  • Some maintenance activities on equipment can be requested.

You also help improve the way the team works by sharing ideas to make processes safer and more efficient.

Where do you land?

You will join the Transport Team within Engine Services, part of KLM Engineering & Maintenance. This team is responsible for handling and transporting aircraft engines for KLM, Air France and international customers.You work at Schiphol-East, together with colleagues who take pride in their work and focus on safety and quality every day. You are in regular contact with team leaders and other departments such as MRO, Customer Support and Logistics.

Your profile

You like practical work and do not mind physical tasks. You work carefully and follow instructions closely, especially when safety is involved. You are flexible, reliable and enjoy working as part of a team.

You also have:

  • a VMBO diploma or MBO-2 level;
  • 0–2 years of work experience (experience in aviation or logistics is a plus);
  • a forklift certificate is a plus;
  • knowledge of lifting and hoisting instructions and the required training;
  • a tractor driving license for driving dollies and motor vehicles;
  • a basic command of Dutch and English;
  • the ability to work safely with heavy and valuable equipment.
