Solution Consultant Level 3

32-40 hours

The Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) department of KLM is looking for experienced SAP Solution Consultants.

Engineering & Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance of aircraft, components and engines for both KLM and other airlines. This makes your work a vital contribution to safe aviation. Our SAP landscape supports a large part of all maintenance processes, making it a critical enabler of our operation.

As an SAP Solution Consultant, you act as the link between IT and the business. You translate business requirements from the Engineering & Maintenance operation into sustainable technical solutions. From small enhancements and upgrades to the implementation of entirely new systems, you ensure that our mechanics, engineers and warehouse employees can perform their work efficiently, effectively and safely.

What will you do?

You start your day with a short stand-up meeting to discuss the team's priorities and see whether anyone needs support. After grabbing a coffee, you meet with a colleague from the business who is looking for a new functionality within the warehouse management system. You discuss the request, ask the right questions and explore the possibilities within SAP.

After lunch, you begin configuring the requested functionality. For a specific technical component, you collaborate with a developer who supports you with the required programming expertise.

Towards the end of the afternoon, you prepare a demonstration for the business to showcase the solution the following day. You finish your day with a Microsoft Teams call with colleagues in France to discuss the integration between multiple systems. Satisfied with another productive day, you close your laptop—knowing tomorrow will bring a completely different set of challenges.

As an SAP Solution Consultant, your work generally consists of analysing business processes, identifying business needs and translating them into future-proof SAP solutions. You guide implementations from start to finish—from blueprint and design through to implementation and aftercare. In addition to your technical expertise, you know how to guide stakeholders through change and build strong relationships with the business.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Analysing business processes and gathering business requirements;
  • Designing SAP solutions and advising on the optimal system configuration;
  • Configuring SAP modules within your area of expertise;
  • Preparing and executing testing activities and maintaining documentation;
  • Supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and delivering end-user training;
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and sparring partner for business stakeholders;
  • Participating in the on-call support rotation.

Where do you land?

At KLM, SAP implementations are anything but standard. Together with Air France, we operate in a large, complex and highly demanding environment where off-the-shelf solutions are rarely sufficient. Every day, logistics, finance and maintenance processes come together within our SAP landscape.

At the same time, we are in the middle of a major transformation. We are moving away from legacy systems towards one integrated SAP environment for Air France-KLM, while also preparing for our migration to SAP S/4HANA.

This is an exciting time to join our team, offering plenty of opportunities to make a real impact and contribute to the future of our organisation.

Your profile

  • You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree;
  • You have at least 7 years of experience as an SAP Solution Consultant, including a minimum of 5 years working with SAP Supply Chain Management (SCM);
  • You have experience with middleware and application integrations and are familiar with the associated technologies and integration processes;
  • You have a process-oriented mindset and are able to translate business needs into practical and sustainable SAP solutions;
  • You communicate clearly and confidently in both Dutch and English;
  • You are proactive, work independently and enjoy collaborating with others to achieve success;
  • You are willing to participate in the on-call support rotation.
