We're looking for a Product Designer who is as passionate about great experiences as we are. Someone who loves collaboration and who isn't afraid to push back when the user's interest is at stake. You'll be shaping the first thing millions of travelers see when they think about their next trip with Air France or KLM. No pressure, but kind of a big deal. This role also comes with the occasional (and much appreciated) trip to Parijs.

What will you do?

Product Designers design the +10 B2C digital channels of Air France and KLM. Think of the website, apps, self-service kiosks at the airport and the onboard portal. They are specialized in translating user research and business needs into structured complex (or super simple) pixel perfect screens that abide by the style and brand guidelines. Although they are part of the broader Design Team, they are embedded in the agile product teams. As such, they need to understand technical environments and limitations to challenge them.

The scope of this role encompasses all pages related to acquisition for both Air France and KLM, including their homepages and travel guides, and a few more, e.g., the entertainment page.Your job is to help users choose a destination, or find the best deal for their next trip, by displaying inspiring and relevant content.

The Air France and KLM websites have technically been merged. This means we have one homepage and one travel guide with two distinct brands, both representing the showroom of the products and services of our two airlines.Creating inspiring, guiding, and personalized touchpoints for our users is your ultimate goal, whether they’re searching for information about our destinations, services, or booking their next holidays.Your challenge is to prioritize the needs of various stakeholders while also considering the unique needs of our diverse users. At the same time, you will need to create a flexible and scalable design that showcases our products and destinations.

Core responsibilities

  • Own the design vision for all web acquisition touchpoints across Air France and KLM — homepages, travel guides (including our AI destination recommender), landing pages, best deals pages…
  • Translate user research, business needs, and data insights into clear, scalable, and inspiring design solutions for two distinct brands.
  • Drive A/B testing initiatives in collaboration with product and analytics teams, using experimentation as a tool to validate and improve your designs.
  • Assist in the transition from SEO to GEO.Provide design support (e.g., guidelines).
  • Contribute to bring stakeholders closer to design thinking.
  • Challenge technical limitations and business decisions when user experience is at stake, and back it up with solid rationale, prototypes, and data.
  • Collaborate daily with product teams, Digital Marketing, Design System, UX Writers and Content Designers, and Researchers across two locations and cultures.

How you work

  • You conduct exploratory and evaluative user research with autonomy
  • You co-create with other designers, researchers, and copywriters, and can facilitate workshops with stakeholders and developers when needed.
  • You're a self-starter who proactively seeks alignment and feedback.
  • You continuously invest in your craft and bring that energy to the team.

Where do you land?

You’re offered a sweet spot in the creative and fun Air France KLM Design Team, location the Netherlands (Amstelveen). We consist of 60+ professionals in user research, visual design, interaction design, service design, UX writing and content writing. The Design Team works from 2 locations (Amstelveen and Paris airport), so you may expect a vibrant mix of French, Dutch, and other cultures.

Your profile

You have 5+ years of experience as a product designer, ideally in a complex digital environment. You know how to use data and user insights to make your case, and you're just as comfortable co-creating in a workshop as you are going heads-down on a complex flow. You'll spend as much time aligning and co-creating as you will in Figma — and you're totally fine with that.
