Telecoms department is part of Air France KLM Group IT and covers all technical domains linked to network (WAN, LAN, DC LAN, mobile networks) and telecommunications (data, voice, videoconferencing). Air France KLM Connectivity department is part of Air France KLM TELECOMS department, responsible for LAN, Wireless, IOT, transversal network security and some connected aircraft products.

Our customers are all KLM staff working in Amsterdam Schiphol airport area – all of them need connectivity in order to process their work, using different kind of devices: laptops, ipads but also specialized rugged devices or vehicles needing mobile connectivity. You as network engineer will bring your technical expertise for these network services to keep running and supporting KL businesses in designing connectivity solutions for their innovation projects. You will play a key role in our team, bringing your agile framework knowledge and experience within a product team, helping the product owner of the Agile product team assessing the requests, estimating the workload and prioritizing the team work.

What will you do?

You will be a key team member of the Agile Connectivity product team. The technical services are managed by providers ensuring H24 7/7 support. You will have to participate to engineer new solutions with architects, validate solutions proposed by the different providers, implement and test them before run mode. You will have to challenge our providers, for them to continuously improve and deliver the best technical solutions to KL businesses. Also help to investigate and solve complex incidents.

The scope is all about end point connectivity for all kind of devices, necessary for all staff in Schiphol airport to process their daily work. For example, wireless connectivity services for KLM cabin crew using their iPads on our planes (3G/4G/5G or Wifi) or automated guided vehicles by Wifi in Cargo hangars. This scope is very various and dynamic, needing constant evolution to stay at the state of art, able to support new services, needed by operational businesses like Cargo, Engineering and Maintenance, Ground and Flight operations.

You will be a technical referent about these LAN/WIFI/LTE/4G technical services. You will also help to organize the work of the product team: estimating amount of workload, complexity, and criticality.

In more details: you will have to process network engineering activities (HLD, LLD, technical schemes and documentation updates, lead complex investigations and troubleshooting with our providers), propose alternative solutions and workarounds, challenge technically our providers and support the Agile teamwork. Our Telecoms organization like all our divisions, is working in the new Agile way of working, using SAFE framework. You will be fully integrated and actor of this way of working Agile. Where do you land?

The Connectivity team is located in Point of View building at Schiphol. It’s a team of 5 to 6 people, including architects, project managers and network engineers. This team is part of an AFKL joint team with colleagues located in France (Paris and Toulouse). Great opportunity to work in an international and multi-cultural environment!

In total, the Connectivity department is about 25 staff. It’s an engineering department, designing and maintaining connectivity solutions that are deployed and supported by third parties and Deployment teams. So mainly level 3 activities. All network services in AMS/SPL are fully outsourced and managed by third parties for the delivery and daily operations.

You will work in standard office hours – daily support of the technical services is operated H24 7/7 by third parties. Homeworking is usual several days per week.You will report directly to the GroupIT Connectivity manager. This manager is located in Paris.

Your profile

Bachelor/ HBO / Master’s degree

You are customer oriented and eager to deliver connectivity services to KL & AFKL businesses on time, with the needed level of quality.

- Technical expertise on LAN and Wifi networks. 3G/4G Data mobile networks.

- Knowledge and experience in working Agile within a product team

- Project lead or product owner skills

- Analytical skills

- Fluent in English (both orally and in writing)

- Travelling between various AF/KL sites to be taken into account
