Are you ready to land in the world of aviation data and innovation? Become intern at KLM and help professionalize our Fleet Performance data! Using the latest technologies in IT, machine learning, and AI, you will contribute to optimizing performance and financial aircraft data. Your work will form the basis for important business case decisions regarding aircraft selection—both in the short and long term.

What will you do?

During your internship, you will play a crucial role in professionalizing aircraft performance data. You will collect and organize technical and financial information on the KLM fleet, verify and optimize the available data and underlying performance and cost calculations. Additionally, you will investigate opportunities for optimization and expansion using machine learning and AI. You will support the Director Fleet Evaluation & Performance in these areas, as well as in presenting this data in a clear and understandable way. Performance is interpreted in the broadest sense of the word, including sustainability aspects such as emissions and noise.

  • Familiarize yourself with the performance database (C++) and learn the technical and financial principles behind cost calculations;
  • Benchmark existing (internal and external) information and use it for validation;
  • Assist in keeping the fleet database up-to-date and improving it;
  • Research and apply AI and machine learning for more advanced cost analyses per cost category;
  • Advise the Director Fleet Evaluation & Performance on how data can be presented in a clear and understandable way;
  • Take sustainability (such as emissions and noise) into account as part of performance.

Where do you land?

You will work from the KLM Headquarters in Amstelveen, where you will be part of the dynamic KLM Fleet Development team. Here, you will be surrounded by colleagues who, just like you, are driven to further develop and improve the aviation industry.

Your profile

You effortlessly switch between different tasks and can present complex information in a clear and understandable way. You analyze quickly and pay attention to detail. Additionally, you are communicative and enjoy working together.

  • You have an affinity for aircraft performance and basic knowledge of aviation technology;
  • You possess IT skills, for example with Excel, PowerPoint, AI tools, and other relevant software;
  • You have experience or knowledge of programming languages such as Python and C++;
  • You have basic financial knowledge (such as exchange rates, inflation, NPV);
  • You are analytically strong, pay attention to detail, and can easily switch between tasks;
  • You are communicative and can make complex information understandable;
  • You have a good command of English; basic knowledge of Dutch is a plus;
  • You are available from May 4th to September 7th;
  • The interviews will take place between March 30 and April 10.
