What will you do?
As a data scientist, you are responsible for translating business problems into predictive and prescriptive models, which you then turn into working products. You support the product owner in identifying business opportunities and translate these into clear user stories and functional designs. You perform in-depth data analyses and apply statistical techniques to gain insights. Furthermore, you develop models and algorithms to improve the efficiency and accuracy of business processes. You also ensure the evaluation of your models, set the right KPIs, and continuously improve the performance of the products.
Additionally, you:
- Analyze data using various programming techniques such as SQL to better understand problems;
- Work closely with your team to turn data into valuable business insights;
- Develop and implement predictive models and optimization algorithms;
- Support incident management to ensure the continuity of models and products;
- Coach colleagues and share your expertise in data science and machine learning.
Where do you land?
You will join an energetic team called Security & Facilitation (SEFA), within the business platform SSC department of the D&T organization at KLM. The office is located at Schiphol East in building 102, where you will work together with a diverse group of data scientists, product owners, and other specialists. Your direct colleagues work on innovative digital products that help the business move forward. You report functionally to the product owner and are supported in your development by the engineering leader.
Your profile
You are an experienced data scientist with the necessary technical depth and a hands-on mentality. You are solution-oriented and always looking for ways to improve existing processes and products. You know how to translate complex questions into workable and understandable models. In addition, you are a strong communicator, both in sharing your technical knowledge and in translating this knowledge to the business.
You have:
- A master’s degree in a technical or IT-related field;
- At least 4-7 years of experience in a data science or operations research role, preferably in an enterprise or commercial environment;
- Experience with various optimization, machine learning, and natural language processing techniques, and can apply these effectively;
- Experience with programming languages such as Python and/or R and the use of various NLP & ML libraries;
- Good command of the English language, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.
