Business Analyst Group Controlling
At Air France–KLM, the Digital Finance & Procurement (DF&P) organization ensures the stability and reliability of our financial performance management systems. Within this environment, Essbase is one of our most critical applications, supporting forecasting, budgeting, consolidation, and reporting activities.
To safeguard this foundation, we are looking for a Business Analyst – Group Controlling who will take full functional ownership of Essbase. You will be responsible for ensuring that the application runs smoothly every day, evolves in the right direction, and continues to meet the needs of Group Controllers and financial stakeholders.
If you enjoy being the go-to expert for a core financial system and take pride in keeping complex applications stable, healthy and future-proof — this role is for you.
What will you do?
As a Business Analyst – Group Controlling, you act as the functional owner of Essbase. You ensure its continuity, you understand its logic end to end, and you lead improvements to keep the platform robust and reliable.
Your core responsibilities include:
1. Functional Ownership of Essbase
- Take responsibility for the functional stability, continuity, and performance of Essbase.
- Monitor the application proactively and resolve issues before they impact users.
- Develop a deep understanding of its logic, structure, calculations, and integrations.
- Serve as the first point of contact for all Essbase-related functional questions.
2. Managing Continuity & Daily Operations
- Safeguard the day-to-day operation of the application, including period openings, loads, and planned activities.
- Ensure data refreshes, processes, and dependencies run accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with IT and the FAMs to guarantee uptime and reliability.
3. Data Quality & Validation
- Own data accuracy within Essbase: completeness, correctness, and consistency.
- Investigate unexpected results and ensure controllers can trust the numbers.
- Implement structural fixes that reduce recurring data issues.
4. Change & Enhancement Management
- Implement functional changes such as new dimensions, updated calculations, or structural improvements.
- Translate business requirements into clear specifications.
- Test changes thoroughly to maintain application integrity.
- Ensure that enhancements strengthen continuity, not jeopardize it.
5. Incident & Problem Management
- Analyze issues in depth, identify root causes, and lead the resolution end-to-end.
- Collaborate with IT support teams when needed, but remain accountable for the functional outcome.
- Document preventive measures and help avoid recurring incidents.
6. Business Partnering
- Guide Group Controllers in how Essbase supports their planning and reporting processes.
- Challenge requirements when needed to protect system stability.
- Communicate clearly about timelines, impacts, and best practices.
7. Documentation & Knowledge Stewardship
- Maintain high-quality documentation of Essbase structures, logic, and functional processes.
- Build and structure knowledge so the application remains manageable and transparent.
