Join KLM as a BI Specialist and take your career to new heights! You'll turn complex data into clear financial and operational insights, thereby contributing to a smooth-running organization and unforgettable flights.

What will you do?

All our ambitions come with a price tag. Do we want to lower our fuel costs and reduce CO2 emissions? Then we first need to determine the average fuel consumption of our aircrafts.As a BI Specialist, it is your responsibility, in collaboration with various stakeholders, to prepare the data for usage and present it in digestible chunks to your internal customers – for example with automated dashboards. By organizing the data, you allow them to make well-informed operational or financial decisions and identify which activities need to be more efficient.

You are going to:

  • Collaborate with finance business analysts, controllers and management to transform their needs into clear requirements for the IT department, while proactively challenging and refining these requirements.
  • Design intuitive Power BI dashboards that track and visualize the KPIs critical to our departments, such as ticket requests, travel spend, fleet composition, and discretionary spend;
  • Design new OneStream models (our Enterprise Performance Management system), such as the ‘Labour cube’, in Power BI.
  • Integrate ESG factors into your information delivery – for example, by providing insights on operational and compliance risk, and measuring customer value;
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Work with the latest software and data techniques, such as GCP Big Query.

Where do you land?

You will work at Corporate Control at our headquarters in Amstelveen, where we have insight into KLM's operations and are in close contact with all parts of the organization. As the financial conscience of KLM, we monitor the company’s strategic progress daily and serve as the right hand of the CFO and the board of directors.Within Corporate Control, you work in the Dashboarding & Reporting team of Finance Decision Support, which makes Finance the most data-driven business unit within KLM. You combine innovative technologies within Finance & Control and optimize decision-support processes in collaboration with stakeholders. This ensures that financial processes within KLM run efficiently, increasing productivity and financial performance.

Your profile

As a BI Specialist, you collaborate with various teams throughout the day, a task that demands both patience and determination. When deadlines are tight, your ability to swiftly rally the team and maintain focus is crucial. You do not just remain glued to your laptop; you are proactive in giving your colleagues a friendly nudge when needed. Furthermore, you are curious and persuasive. You are bursting with new ideas and can effortlessly bring your KLM colleagues on board with you.

Additionally:

  • A completed HBO education with an academic working and thinking level, preferably in the field of business administration or information management;
  • At least 3 years of work experience;
  • Deep expertise as Power BI developer, including data modeling, DAX, M language, Power Query, and report/dashboard design.
  • Strong knowledge of IT back-end data modeling and experience working with databases, data warehouses, and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of finance business processes is a plus but not required.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
