A lot or a few flight hours in your log book
Do you want to fulfill your pilot's dream or are you ready for your next flying challenge? However experienced you are, you are most welcome in the cockpits of KLM and KLM Cityhopper! If you are already a pilot, you can apply directly for an open vacancy. To do so, you must meet at least the below requirements.
What we are looking for
Profile
- Minimum higher general secondary education or equivalent foreign education with English, mathematics and physics;
- Valid passport from an EU member state;
- Swimming skills;
- Height between 1.58 and 2.03 metres. No leg length measurement will take place.
Certificates and training
- Class I Medical
- (Frozen) ATPL (A)
- Initial CRM
- LPE6
- Multi Crew Cooperation Course
- Upset Prevention and Recovery Training
- PBN-annotation
Experience
- At least 500 hours of experience on a multi-engine aircraft (5,700 kg or more),
- At least 150 hours of this was flown in commercial aviation in the 12 months prior to this application.
Selection procedure
- Round 1: cv selection
- Round 2: online assessment
- Round 3: psychological assessment
- Round 4: simulator grading
- Round 5: interview with Committee of Selection (COVA)
- Round 6: security screenings and medical examination, including blood and urine tests for medication, alcohol and drugs
An internal file check and a reference check can also be part of the selection procedure. By applying you agree to the procedure.
Have you successfully completed the selection procedure? Then we will invite you for a Type Rating Course (TRC) as soon as there is room.
Employment conditions
- starting salary between € 3,300 and € 5,500
- after completing your Type Rating Course, your salary will be between € 5,500- and € 8,300- gross per month
- four-weekly schedule
- daily allowance when on destination

KLM Flight Academy
Did you know that KLM has its own flight school? The KLM Flight Academy is the only aviation school in the Netherlands that can train commercial pilots for KLM. Those who successfully pass the rigorous selection will join fellow students on the two-year training course to become a commercial pilot - with financing. During this course, you will have plenty of opportunities to develop yourself, both professionally and personally. If you get your pilot's licence and we have vacancies?
