Working on the platform
Every day, aircraft come and go at Schiphol. When KLM aircraft are on the ground, they're inspected and maintained at the gate by our crew on the apron. In other words: line maintenance mechanics and AMTs. Whether you're changing wheels, replacing brakes or checking engines, maintenance must be carried out quickly, safely and accurately. We make sure you’re ready to take on the job.
In just three years, we’ll train you to become a fully qualified Cat A mechanic, and who knows, you might even advance to a ground engineer (AMT). At KLM, development opportunities are endless once you’re in, you’re in! From there, the path is yours to choose - expand your horizons, broaden your expertise, or keep moving straight ahead. Whether you want to stay in the workshop, transition to the office, teach at our internal school, or become an IT specialist, the possibilities here are endless.
Why should you seize this opportunity at KLM?
Because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and one that only we can offer.
And because you'll:
- start working at the airport right away
- receive a certificate that is valid throughout Europe
- not have to pay anything – we cover the costs
- receive a full salary right away, even during your training
- have the opportunity to progress to ground engineer (AMT)
- you'll have the opportunity to work abroad from time to time after your training is complete.
Where you'll end up
Line Maintenance, part of Airframe, handles the technical aircraft handling of the KLM fleet at Schiphol-Centrum. Here, operations never stop. Our goal: to ensure that aircraft depart on time and safely.
Airframe is part of KLM Engineering & Maintenance: one of the largest and most versatile technical organisations in the Netherlands. Here we maintain our own fleet and the engines and components of around 200 customers worldwide. So, there's plenty to do.
The best part about the job is that it is never the same. One day it is hectic, you have to move fast and stay focused. The other day it is more peaceful and we can have a great laugh with our colleagues. I love this dynamic!Marc, line maintenance mechanic
