Junior
Internship
Finance
32-40 hours

From sustainability issues to budgeting and from fraud control to change management: KLM Finance is more versatile than you might think. But whatever you tackle here, you'll be part of KLM's financial-strategic heart. For example, because you'll document results, identify risks, and continuously look ahead: this way, you'll learn how to create a solid foundation on which colleagues can base their decisions.

What will you do?

By the end of your internship, you'll have learned what it takes to assess and document key business processes. This includes financial processes, but also processes related to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data. You'll have contributed to these assignments and understand how to identify and mitigate risks. You’ll have met and collaborated with many colleagues from various departments, such as auditors, lawyers, engineers, and finance specialists. You'll also have gained insight into how to translate sustainability principles, KLM regulations, and external requirements into daily job practices and recommendations for our colleagues.

Additionally:

  • You will contribute to different assignments, research, and their documentation.
  • You will participate in various projects and meetings;
  • You will approach to people both inside and outside KLM for the information you need;
  • You will proactively contribute to improving processes within KLM;

Where do you land?

KLM's Finance organization is unique. Where else are billions invested in a new fleet, or millions spent on aircraft maintenance? Whatever ambition we want to achieve, everything comes at a price. Fortunately, Finance is there to provide the right information, data, and insights. We're alert to costs, but also to high absenteeism or inefficient work processes – ultimately, everything affects our area of expertise. This makes us indispensable to the organization's financial success. At Corporate Control, we monitor KLM's strategic progress every day and keep an eye on the health of our figures.

Hierarchically and functionally, this role is part of the Corporate Internal Control Office, which operates within the KLM Corporate Control department. The Corporate Internal Control Office is responsible for setting KLM Group policies and standards related to internal control, providing direction and guidance, and maintaining oversight.

Your profile

It is important that you have strong communication and analytical skills, as you must be able to collaborate effectively with different departments. New ideas are very welcome, as we are always looking for improvements. The smoother a process, the better for the organization – and we are looking for someone who is eager to contribute to that.

Furthermore:

  • Are you pursuing a higher professional or university degree in a financial field, such as Business Administration, Accounting & Control, Economics, or Finance?
  • Are you interested in sustainability and business operations in a large Dutch company?
  • Do you speak and write fluent English? Good command of Dutch is an advantage..

What do we offer

KLM offers you a highly instructive experience in a dynamic organisation in which you will play an important role. You can develop yourself considerably during this internship, both personally and professionally. In addition, this internship offers you the opportunity to build up your network, as you will be working with many different KLM employees!

Another advantage of a internship at KLM is the KLM Taxibaan association run by and for interns. This association expands your network and organises fun events and interesting excursions within the KLM organisation. There is also a internship allowance.
